Not sure what you have?

Which plate do you have?

Look at what is on your wall right now. Work through these three steps and you will know exactly which configuration to pick — no need to know what any of it is called.

Step 1

What is behind the plate?

Ignore the plate itself and look at what it surrounds.

Toggle

The classic little lever you flick up and down.

Rocker

The wide flat paddle you press. Often called Decora.

Outlet

A power socket, not a switch. Two sockets stacked is a duplex.

Blank

No opening at all — it covers a box that is not in use.

Step 2

How many sit behind one plate?

Count the openings on the single plate in front of you — that is your single, double or triple.

Single

One switch or one outlet. Also called single gang.

Double

Two side by side under one plate.

Triple

Three side by side under one plate.

Double outlet

Two outlets side by side under one plate.

Step 3

Mixed on one plate?

A switch next to an outlet, or a switch next to a blank, is its own configuration. These are the common mixes.

Toggle + rocker

One lever and one paddle together.

Toggle + blank

One switch, one covered opening.

Duplex + round

A duplex outlet beside a single round receptacle.

3 toggle + 1 rocker

A four-gang run, three levers and one paddle.

One thing worth knowing before you order: our duplex outlet covers mount with screws at the top and bottom rather than a single screw through the centre, which is different from some standard outlet plates.

Sizes

Standard US boxes

If your plate matches one of these, ours will fit. If it does not, we can print to your measurements.
